During the first half of the Summer term our topic will be ‘Step into Spring’ and we will be exploring lots of exciting aspects of Spring/Summer including growing seeds, planting flowers / vegetables and learning about a range of insects and minibeasts.

As ever, we will be continuing to learn through play, taking turns and sharing our toys with our friends.  We have some lovely activities planned over the next few weeks which will promote important aspects of early learning such as ‘Communication and language’ and ‘Understanding of the World’. People who help us

It’s going to be a very exciting half term in Early Years! Our new topic is ‘People who help us’ and we have some lovely activities planned over the next few weeks and will be looking at; emergency services, dentists, doctors and nurses, vets, dinner ladies, lollipop men/ladies and many more! We will also be having some visitors in School helping us to explore our topic further.  It’s going to be a very exciting half term!

This term, there will be a particular focus on ‘understanding the world’ and through our activities we will make links to ‘people and communities’ and ‘the world’. We will talk about who is special to us, and how we are similar/different to others. We will start to think about jobs and special times/events for people who we may know.

In addition, we will also be taking part in lots of Easter crafts towards the end of the term, and will hopefully be inviting parents into School for a morning of Easter crafts in the classroom. It’s going to be a fun-filled half term and we can’t wait to get stuck in! Here’s to a fantastic half term in Early Years with our children! 😊

   Summer Term 2017

     ANIMALS

For more information on our 'Animals' topic click the link below.

TOPIC OVERVIEW

It’s going to be a very exciting Summer term in the Nursery! Over the next few weeks we will be learning all about animals, focusing on pets in the home, farm animals and zoo animals. The children will be looking at where animals live, what they eat and how they are looked after. We will also be looking at animals and their young, matching up mummies and daddies to their babies, which can be quite tricky when they don’t always look the same!

As this will be my first term with the children, I will be spending lots of time getting to know them on a one to one basis and getting stuck in with lots of lovely activities surrounding our topic ‘Animals’.  It’s going to be a fun-filled  summer term.

Christmas is Coming!!

Our new topic this half term will be to look at Toys and Christmas.

We are going to investigate different types of toys such as baby toys and old/new toys. We are going to discuss our own favourite toys we like to play with at home.

Together as a class we are going to imagine what presents we would give to Jesus if we could have visited him in the stable after the wise men.

Along with our work on toys we will be developing our skills of how we play with toys through sharing and developing relationships with our friends.

During this topic we will go into our Christmas work too. We will be doing this via:

-A big classroom display of the Christmas Story.

-Maths and Literacy activities in the classroom.

-Activities outside such as snowball fights!

-Making Christmas cards, calendars and gifts.

Our nativity will be on the 5th and 6th December and it will be the Wriggly Nativity!
